5 things to consider when using AI in your marketing
Artificial Intelligence tools such as ChatGPT are incredibly powerful tools that create efficiency and are reshaping how we work within our businesses.
It’s exciting. There have been some impressive examples of how it can enhance marketing strategies from advanced consumer research to fresh content ideas.
AI is not going anywhere and technology is going to advance whether you like it or not. However, it is still relatively new and there’s a lot we don’t know about yet.
If you’re going to use AI marketing in your business then make sure you’re using it responsibly.
A few things to consider;
Does AI enhance your current marketing strategy?
I always start with the strategy. Stay focused on your current marketing strategy and goals and ask yourself- ‘does this enhance my current plans?’.
Don’t be the business owner that gets distracted by ‘shiny new object syndrome’ then forgets their marketing basics.
2. Do you own the content?
Can it be used commercially? You shouldn’t use content for your business that you don’t own. Make sure you’ve read the terms and conditions and make sure that you’re clear on who owns the copy, content or images before using it in your business.
3. Is the information you’re inputting sensitive or confidential?
Have you read the privacy policy of the AI sites? The answer I usually hear to this is no…but you should. Some AI tools will retain your personal information and search queries.
4. Is your content written for humans?
Even though you can create a blog in no time, it still needs to appeal to your audience of real people. Your competitors could also have created a similar piece of content that’s similar. Use AI to get the initial ideas or a new perspective, then always make it your own. There’s no need to copy and paste.
5. Don’t be afraid of change.
But beware of any risks. Embrace this amazing technology and use it to your advantage- It’s already here and developing fast! But act responsibly when using it for marketing your business.
In summary, AI is remarkable and I’m going to be embracing it and following the latest developments in marketing wherever I can.
However, there’s nothing I enjoy more than creative writing- from my own perspective, in my own words and using my unique personality, so my pen and paper is also here to stay.
